Meet the Chef

Chef Leel’s culinary journey began at the hills of what used to be a small, college town in Huntsville, AL. Growing up, Leel was always inspired by his grandmother to learn how to cook. Through the years, he watched her create various meals and desserts from the best baked goods to four-course dinners for the family. Everything she made was hand-crafted. Chef Leel knew that must’ve been her secret to making the best tasting food. It would be years until he started producing his own creations.

In 2011, Chef Leel went off to college where he became independent and began learning how to provide for himself. Over time, Leel started noticing the effects food had on the body. In 2012, Leel stopped eating fried foods. In 2015, he dramatically reduced his consuming of processed foods and red meats and started investing in organic alternatives. It was in 2016 when Leel made a commitment to shift his pallet and his eating habits forever. On the first day of the year, Chef Leel made a resolution to not eat take-out of any kind for the entire year. This means he would be responsible for planning and creating his own meals. Within just a couple of months, Leel discovered that he knew nothing about the origin of the foods he was purchasing, how it was processed, or what he was actually gaining from eating it. The information he was ingesting illuminated the profound differences between what we think we know and what we actually do know. Leel came to an inner-standing. He came to realize that many of the foods we consume, even those that are “so-called” healthy, were not complimentary to his biological structure. It was in late March 2016 when he knew that, soon enough, he would have to relinquish what he had learned to be “soul food” and “good food.” Just two months later, he made a full transition into not only a vegan diet, but a vegan lifestyle, no longer consuming meat nor dairy of any sort.

 

Months after transitioning into a vegan lifestyle, Leel began seeking an even healthier lifestyle. He noticed that although eating a vegan diet may be less compromising, a vegan diet still generally consists of many processed foods, packaged foods, inorganic foods, etc. This realization sparked his curiosity of new possibilities. Leel wondered about the potential effects that plants have on the human body. Were there natural remedies that could treat sicknesses or cure diseases? Upon his research, Chef Leel stumbled across something very peculiar and interesting. He found a link to a website providing information about an herbalist named Dr. Sebi who was said to have cured many people of the common, life-threatening diseases including HIV, AIDS, cancer, diabetes and more. This was very intriguing considering the detriment that disease has brought to our families and communities. Chef Leel submerged himself in this information. He read and researched about Dr. Sebi and watched videos and interviews of him from which he learned that the human body is self repairing and self healing as long as the food it takes in is compatible with it’s genetic structure. These are the foods we know as alkaline, those that compliment the body on a cellular level. Dr. Sebi’s methodology was based on these foods in what he called the “African Bio-Mineral Balance”. Chef Leel adopted this methodology and has followed Dr. Sebi’s Nutritional Guide for the purpose of promoting homeostasis in the body.

 

Since then, Chef Leel has taken this information and shared it with his community via social media, festivals, private events and public forums. Our community, which includes people of direct African descent, has been plagued by disease and illness as a result of a lack of knowledge and poor decision-making. Chef Leel’s goal is to counter this position by liberating those of interest through the art and healing of food. His passion fuels his ability to provide high quality, delectable meals. Chef Leel’s favorite aspect of any service he provides is to educate the people. It brings him joy to share the knowledge he was gifted with, as he acquires even more with each unique encounter.
